BACKGROUND: "Please don't take me back there..."

PERSONALITY:
Nathan Wallace is a complicated character with two seemingly distinct sides.

First is the father: Nathan projects an image of compassion and caring for his daughter. Gentle, kind, he's a man who deeply loves his daughter and will do anything to protect her. Including poisoning her for 17 years and convincing her she has a blood disease in order to "protect" her from the outside world.
Second is the Repo-Man: For his "nightly duties", Nathan becomes a rather twisted and sadistic killer, enjoying the blood, gore, and carnage that comes with his job. He's cruel, gutting a man while still alive and proceeding to play with his body like a ventriloquist's puppet or brutally mutilating a body in a "practice room".

In reality, Nathan seems to incorporate both sides. He seems almost sociopathic- possessive of his daughter, he denies her freedom because he cannot bear to potentially lose the last living part of his dead wife, Marni. He has even hidden Shilo's existence from the world, claiming to Shilo's own godmother that she died with her mother. He also seems to exhibit exemplary control over both sides of his life; he goes so far as to snap a man's neck, killing him, while on a phone call chastizing Shilo for not taking her medicine- controlling not just his own emotions but Shilo's life with his constant monitoring.

Nathan attempts to excuse his actions on the trauma of accidentally killing his wife, but even then he treats his wife and her memory like a possession; his house is all but a tomb dedicated to Marni, including her corpse preserved behind a glass window in the wall of their home.

Overprotective, possessive, controlling, obsessed- Nathan is a man who can hide all his worst characteristics under a guise of superficial charm. And that is, perhaps, far more dangerous than the knife he keeps hidden up his sleeve.

POWER:
Night Surgeon: Nathan is able to manipulate shadows- he is able to both use them to hide by "sinking" into them. Eventually, he should be able to manipulate shadows to interfere with the physical world, such as knocking things over or moving small objects, but that will come with a lot of practice.

Do No Harm: With a touch of his right hand, Nathan is able to heal injuries no matter how severe. Of course, the ones closest to death will take the longest and take the most out of him...

Take Your Medicine: With a touch of his left hand, Nathan is able to inflict a type of poison on whoever he touches. At first, this will only cause lightheadedness, similar to a spike in blood pressure. But prolonged exposure may result in symptoms similar to arsenic poisoning.
